AYANI assisted a Dutch investment promotion firm with its initiatives to promote SMEs in emerging markets. Services included doing a market scan of the agro-industry and tourism market opportunities (Kubita, 2008).



Mid-Term Evaluation

Haiti


AYANI undertook the mid-term evaluation of an institutional capacity building program to assist a major commercial bank, Capital Bank, in its bank downscaling efforts through its subsidiary MCC (IADB, 2008).



Evaluation of Remittances Portfolio
Latin America


AYANI undertook a major independent evaluation of the MIF/IADB portfolio of remittances projects, including field work in 6 countries. It led to a leading publication: “Ten years of Innovation in Remittances – Lessons Learned and Models for the Future” on learnings from remittances initiatives for lower income markets (IADB, 2010).

Evaluation and Transformation Feasibility
Malawi


AYANI undertook an institutional evaluation of a major MFI in Malawi. The evaluation also covered the feasibility of its transformation plan into a private company limited by shares (UNCDF, 2009-2010).



Feasibility Study of Microfinance Academy

AYANI undertook a feasibility study for a Microfinance Investment Vehicle (MIV) for an academy to provide training to staff at all levels of its investee financial service providers. The study covered both demand and supply. In terms of demand, it included a quantitative survey of over 100 MFI staff (Investment Fund, 2009).



Mapping of Technical Assistance Providers

AYANI assessed availability and evaluated the delivery capacity of local access to finance technical assistance providers in 8 countries in Africa (Cordaid, 2009).



Access to Finance – Diagnostic to Action

AYANI analyzed the accomplishments, constraints and opportunities for inclusive financial sectors in 14 African countries. The assessment included an elaboration on the policy environment, and the legal and regulatory frameworks. The objective of the study was to provide input on access to finance strategies for policy formulation being undertaken by major regional and international financial institutions, governments and donors (WWB, 2008).

Loan Portfolio Due Diligence
Nigeria


AYANI provided a consultant to one of the larger MFIs to undertake an in-depth portfolio due diligence, loan-by-loan evaluations of SME loans, and updating loan files with all necessary loan documentation (Fintech, 2010).

AYANI assisted a Dutch NGO with its project research and strategy development in a remote area in Pakistan (Dutch NGO, 2011).

AYANI undertook a feasibility study and business planning exercise for a pioneering SME finance fund targeting the private health sector (PharmAccess, 2008).

AYANI undertook market surveys in 6 of the largest cities in Zimbabwe analyzing market opportunities in some 30 sub-sectors (IOM, 2009).
